Hello V&V followers!
I am full of purpose, clarity and buzzing with energy right now. I finally finished my vision board that I began two days ago! #deadlinemissed #sorrynotsorry
Yes, I am a little late in finishing, but that is because I was busy being the Hostess with the Mostest on Saturday for a most wonderful group of women.
Look at these ladies, hard at work on their vision boards:
These are some of my dearest friends. Some of them had done vision boards before, and some had not.
Are you familiar with Vision Boards?
The idea is that if we become clear about what we desire, how we want our life to be in the future, we can begin to manifest it.
I think part of the magic lies in just taking the time to think about what it is we truly desire in our lives.
I began by reading this poem by Hafiz:
All the Hemispheres
Let your senses and bodies stretch outLike a welcomed season
Onto the meadows and shores and hills.
Open up to the Roof.
Make a new water-mark on your excitement And love.
Like a blooming night flower,
Bestow your vital fragrance of happiness And giving
Upon our intimate assembly.
Change rooms in your mind for a day.
All the hemispheres in existence
Lie beside an equator In your heart.
In your thousand other forms
As you mount the hidden tide and travel Back home.
All the hemispheres in heaven
Are sitting around a fire Chatting
While stitching themselves together
Into the Great Circle inside of You.
After the poem I led us in a guided visualization where we took the time to imagine our ideal day – from the moment we woke up to the end of the day.
What did we see? hear? feel? smell?
What was for breakfast? Who prepared it? Where did we have it? How did it make us feel? How did it taste?
Where did we work and how did we get there? Did we walk down the hall to our office? Get in a car? Ride a bike? Or maybe not work at all?
You get the idea…imagine yourself living your best life in as much detail as you possibly can.
And then, grab some magazines and start flipping through the pages – pulling out whatever grabs you. You don’t have to know why it does, but if it catches your eye or makes you pause, then grab it.
As we flip through images and words – while chatting and snacking – we pull out what resonates with us without thinking too much about it. #gowiththegut
Eventually we have a stack of random images and phrases and we begin to get our creative on by cutting them out and arranging them on our boards.
Meanwhile, as connections among us are discovered – “Oh, your husband coached my son!” “You know my old neighbor!” – we are making connections with the items on our boards.
Before you know it, you have a completed board!
I encourage everyone to share theirs with the group – it’s another way of cementing the ideas and working them into your consciousness. Plus, it forces you to say your hopes and dreams out loud and that is another piece of the Magic Puzzle. #imaybesneaky
My friends shared stories of health and love, family and travel, professional goals and the desire for clarity moving forward. #somuchgoodness
And look at those smiling faces!
Here’s the thing: We are so busy, most of us, that it is a challenge to find the time to sit and think about what it is we truly want, desire, need, in our lives. Not what it was we wanted last year, or ten years ago, but what we want today. Next year. For the next season of our life.
So, like I said, part of the magic is being still and listening.
Another part is “stop thinking” and go with your gut. Don’t ask “why does this image of a mountain grab my attention? I am a beach person, I don’t like the mountains.” If it grabs you, pull it out.
The third part is to say it out loud. Any goal, any vision, any desire, is magnified by your voice. Say it out loud. Even if it is just to your reflection in the mirror or whispered to your cat.
Your voiced intention has a ripple effect.
Finally, let go of the outcome. Counterintuitive, right?
Put the board where you will see it. Don’t hide it away. But you don’t have to stare at it everyday while chanting your mantra and burning incense.
I mean, you can, but you don’t have to.
I have mine in the bathroom so I stare at it while I brush my teeth in the morning. But I haven’t had my coffee yet, so I am not really awake and I don’t have my glasses on either so I can’t really read it.
But it seeps in there anyways.
It’s in my subconscious and guides me without my realizing it.
Vision Boards work. I still have one I did four years ago with some of the same women. Much of what we had on our boards has come to pass. #socool
But now, back to my board, the one I just finished.
I am super excited by it. I probably do at two boards a year, but this one is the juiciest and most powerful feeling one I have ever done.
I feel really clear and confident about what I want, and the energy from this is unlike anything I have experienced.
It sounds a little nuts maybe, but hey, I am just sharing what I feel.
Here it is:
I am totally in love with it and can’t wait to see how all this magical, delicious, wonderment is going to unfold for me in the coming days, months and years.
