Fearless Writing Challenge; Day 53: A Day In Davis

Today we hit the road early. For us. On a Saturday. #8oclockalarm

We drive up to the town of Davis, California for the evening football game. My sweetie’s daughter is on a dance team scholarship and they perform at the football and basketball games.

Having gone to San Francisco State – a UC Davis rival – I never thought I’d be cheering for UC Davis in anything. But being a parent – or a pseudo-step-parent in my case – makes you do all kinds of things you never thought you’d do.

Go Aggies!

We got to town and had lunch – I had a nice glass of white wine with my salad – grilled shrimp, mixed greens, hazlenuts, and bleu cheese. #yum

Scotty had fried chicken – double yum!!!

Then we checked out a tennis shop and I bought a new skirt – now that we have been playing 2-4 times a week for a couple of months I almost feel like I can get away with it. #newsport #olddognewtricks

Then we found a news shop with aisles of magazines.  #heaven of course I had to look at every section.

And since that wasn’t enough word porn for me I hit the second-hand bookshop too. I picked up a couple books for my new french boutique I’m opening soon #comingsoon #etsyorebay #boutiquefrenchic

Then we made our way back to the car and drove to campus to see if we could find the tennis courts where there was supposed to be a tournament going on.

As we drove we passed the track – I ran a really great 400 meters there once, long ago!

We found the tennis courts and actually pulled right up – not the prime courts but great seats and we got to leave the AC on! #itshothere

Now – on to the pre-game show, a beer and some of those nasty nachos I love so much!

Go team!
